Iran marked sixth anniversary of Qassem Soleimani’s killing with a rally in Tehran on Thursday (January 1) which was attended by the country’s president Masoud Pezeshkian.January 3rd marks six years since the military commander was assassinated in a U.S. missile strike in Iraq, a death which caused a spike in already fraught tensions between Iran and the United States.Soleimani was blamed by Washington for masterminding attacks by Iran-aligned militias on U.S. forces in the region and he died alongside Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.n18oc_crux | n18oc_world
