DHAKA: Two days after a key aide of Bangladesh chief adviser Muhammad Yunus stepped down from his post, the interim govt reinstated him on Thursday, saving itself from a second resignation of a senior official in a span of 10 days. Special assistant to Yunus for the health ministry Sayedur Rahman’s resignation had been accepted by the President, the cabinet division said in a gazette notification issued on Tuesday night. However, through a fresh notification Thursday, it announced his reinstatemnet. The former VC of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University was appointed in the role in Nov 2024. On Dec 24, Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, special assistant to Yunus for the home ministry, stepped down following large-scale violence in the country.
