Anu Malik clarifies Ghar Kab Aaoge credit row in Border 2

Anu Malik breaks silence on Ghar Kab Aaoge credit row in Border 2: ‘Bhushan Kumar has already credited me with immense warmth and respect'

Singer-composer Anu Malik has addressed reports claiming that he was not credited for the song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ from Border 2. Issuing a clarification through his Instagram Stories, Malik dismissed the reports as “incorrect” and expressed gratitude to producer Bhushan Kumar.“I would like to clarify about the song Ghar Kab Aaoge that Bhushan ji has already credited me with immense warmth and respect,” Malik wrote. He added, “This is a unique collaboration that I am genuinely proud of. Any reports suggesting otherwise are based on incorrect reporting. I stand by this collaboration with pride and gratitude.”

Earlier PTI quote sparked debate

Malik’s statement comes after PTI quoted him earlier while discussing his and lyricist Javed Akhtar’s contribution to ‘Sandese Aate Hain’ from the original Border, on which ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ in Border 2 is based.“I believe the song is recreated. I’m not a part of it. I’m sure they will give my name to it as I’ve created the song,” Malik had said. “They should, because people know about our contribution. They can’t get away with it. They can’t make Border 2 without Sandese Aate Hain. Both Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar are up there in their contribution, so they will have to put our name somewhere.” Praising the new rendition, Malik had also said, “I think it is going to be brilliant because Sonu is a fabulous singer and Arijit is a magical singer. So, it will be a magical combination of Arijit and Sonu together, but the tune is going to be Anu Malik. You can’t get away from Anu Malik and Javed sahab — the song he has written is so great.” Border 2 features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Diljit Dosanjh, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, among others, in key roles. The war drama is slated for a theatrical release on January 23, 2025.
