‘Making $250,000 sitting at home’: Mehek Cooke claims massive Medicaid fraud in Ohio

'Making $250,000 sitting at home': Indian-origin Mehek Cooke claims massive Medicaid fraud in Ohio, targets Somalis

Indian-origin attorney and Trump loyalist Mehek Cooke claims there is a huge fraud going on in Ohio’s Medicaid system. She said it disproportionately affects the Somali community. Cooke said some families are running fake “home health” operations and billing up to $250,000 a year per family, without providing any real care. She added that the scam also occurs in Pennsylvania and urged authorities to investigate: “Audit America. Audit Ohio now. And I’m pushing for that in every single state!”Cooke explained the mechanics of the scheme, saying that as long as a doctor approves, states continue to pay for home care — sometimes 10 to 24 hours a day. “So you could sit at home without caring for an elderly parent who really doesn’t need it, make about $75,000 to $90,000 a year. Now you add two parents, that’s $180,000. Now you add your in-laws $250,000,” she said. MAGA ally Cooke also weighed in on the importance of protecting public funds and taxpayer money, adding: “We really need to investigate the Medicaid system and how much it’s increased since the Somalian population came and who really needs critical care because that’s meant for our disabled, our elderly and people who really need it, not to just live off our system.” Cooke said she has alerted both the Ohio Attorney General’s office and the US Attorney’s office, insisting that taxpayer money must be safeguarded.Earlier this month, Cooke also weighed in on debates in the US conservative movement, backing GOP leader and fellow Indian-American Vivek Ramaswamy’s rejection of “heritage Americanism.” Posting on X, she said she came to the US legally, has assimilated, and is no less of an American than anyone else, regardless of their lineage in the US: “I am American. I came here legally and assimilated, our laws, culture, and shared standards. No one gets to rank my Americanness. The real divide is not heritage. It is legality and assimilation.”Her comments came after Ramaswamy’s speech at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, where he rejected racism and antisemitism in parts of the right-wing MAGA movement and condemned attacks on ethnic minorities like Hindus and Jews.
