Tata Motors has announced plans to launch three new electric vehicles in India in calendar year 2026 after crossing the milestone of 2.5 lakh EV sales in around five years. The Nexon EV has also become the first all-electric passenger vehicle in the country to record over one lakh unit sales.

The upcoming EVs include the Sierra EV, a new Punch EV and the first model from the EMA-based Avinya series. While the Avinya range is expected to introduce a sportback or an SUV by the end of 2026, the Sierra EV and the facelifted Punch EV are likely to arrive earlier in the year.

Upcoming EV launches and Punch facelift details

Tata Motors is expected to introduce the Sierra EV in the coming months, following the positive response to the internal combustion engine version of the Sierra. The updated Punch has also been spotted testing multiple times in recent months, although it remains unclear whether the test vehicles are ICE or electric versions.

The Punch ICE, on sale since late 2021, has helped Tata Motors establish a strong presence in the sub-four-metre segment alongside the Nexon and continues to feature among the top-selling SUVs. Despite this, it has not received a major update so far. The Punch EV, which has been on sale for nearly two years, has been confirmed to receive an updated version in 2026. Both ICE and electric variants are expected to undergo a mid-cycle facelift around the same time.

Spy images show prototypes with a closed-off front grille, tweaked headlamp housings and a bonnet design similar to the existing Punch EV, with DRLs positioned underneath. The absence of a visible front-mounted charging port suggests the possibility of an ICE version, though it may be concealed under camouflage. Other visible elements include blacked-out pillars and roof, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, a 360-degree camera module and newly designed aero-style wheels. The side profile remains unchanged, while the rear is expected to receive revised tail lamps and a redesigned bumper. The Punch ICE facelift is expected to continue with the existing 1.2-litre petrol engine, while the EV version may receive updates to its driving range. Inside, the updated models are likely to feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new steering wheel, a refreshed dashboard and the addition of new features and technologies.
