5 times Dhanashree-Yuzvendra grabbed eyeballs during divorce

Yuzvendra Chahal - Dhanashree Verma: Top 5 times the cricketer grabbed eyeballs during his controversial divorce drama

TRIGGER WARNING: This article contains references to suicide.Yuzvendra Chahal, the prolific Indian Cricketer, has been the subject of scrutiny since the divorce rumours charted the trending list on social media. However, the 35-year-old managed to grab the spotlight by keeping his views ahead of fans and sticking to what he perceived as the foremost truth among the chaotic blame game. Between the name tags and sensational posts, here’s what the ‘Punjab Kings’ star did that grabbed the eyeballs of his fans!

Be Your Own Sugar Daddy

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma, the former couple, were granted a divorce by Bandra Family Court on March 20, 2025. While coming out of the court in front of numerous paparazzi, the cricketer wore a t-shirt that read, ‘Be Your Own Sugar Daddy,’ which was soon picked up by the internet. Recently, in Raj Shamani’s podcast, Chahal justified his decision and cited that he hesitated to make such a move. However, he thought “to h**l with everything,” and wore the outfit to send a message without abusing or speaking anything.

When Yuzvendra Chahal was spotted with RJ Mahvash

Yuzvendra Chahal made quick headlines after being spotted with social media influencer and actor, RJ Mahvash, during the Champions Trophy 2025 final match between India and New Zealand in Dubai. However, at that time, he was in a tumultuous trouble with the choreographer Dhanashree Verma and the divorce speculations. The smiles instantly caused his fans to think that there must be something more than a mere separation. While both have them have condemned the rumors, calling them ‘baseless,’ fans continue to raise their eyebrows whenever they are snapped together.

When Yuzvendra Chahal said he is not a ‘cheater’

Yuzvendra Chahal spoke about being declared a cheater on social media in the aforementioned podcast during the time of separation speculations. “I think when my divorce happened, people alleged me of being a cheater. I have never cheated in my life. I am not that kind of person. You won’t find anyone more loyal than me,” he said. When Chahal chose to be silent about his public outings and the accusations, there were many perspectives about their marriage. Clearing his stain on his name, the cricketer affirmed that he is a ‘giver’ in a relationship. “It is not necessary that if my name is being linked to someone, people get to write anything about it, only for views,” he further explained, which created a change in social media and gained him a lot of attention from his fans.

When Yuzvendra Chahal finally broke his silence over his divorce

The former couple got married in December 2020, but the cracks in their relationship were noticed since their third year of marriage. When Shamani asked whether Chahal faked their love and relationship to avoid scrutiny, the cricketer nodded his head in agreement. Opening about the disastrous relationship, Yuzi stated that a relationship requires compromise, but both of them were extremely busy with their individual careers, creating a space that lasted for about 2 years. “At that point, I was so much into it, I had to give time here, give time there. I was not able to think about the relationship. Then it happens every day, you think, leave it,” he said in Shamani’s podcast.

When Yuzvendra Chahal opened up about depression

Yuzvendra Chahal expressed that he had suicidal thoughts after facing public scrutiny. The 35-year-old had sleepless nights and desperately wanted to take a break from cricket. Opening about his vulnerable time, he said, “I had suicidal thoughts, I was tired of my life, I used to cry for 2 hours. I used to sleep just for 2 hours. It went for 40-45 days. I wanted a break from cricket.” adding that he shared heartwrenching thoughts with friends as well. Chahal discoursed about the darker side of social media, engaging with the taboo topic – mental health. With his honesty, he gave a spotlight to depression along with him.
