Slight rain, cloudy skies, and gusty winds are expected across parts of the UAE today, Wednesday, 17 December, as temperatures dip slightly. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast overcast skies and intermittent rainfall for today. Some convective clouds are forming over the islands and are expected to extend to parts of the coastal, northern, and eastern regions. Yellow alerts have been issued in areas experiencing fresh southeasterly winds, which may lift dust and sand, reducing visibility to below 2,000 metres in some places, particularly in the north and east, from early morning until late afternoon.Winds are expected to blow from southeast to northeast at 15 to 30 km/h, occasionally reaching 50 km/h. Temperatures across the country will range between 20ºC and 25ºC in Abu Dhabi, 21ºC to 26ºC in Dubai, and 19ºC to 25ºC in Sharjah. Mountain areas could see lows of 8ºC, while internal regions may rise to 30ºC. At sea, conditions are forecast to be moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf and light to moderate in the Sea of Oman.Looking ahead, the active weather system will continue to affect the UAE through Friday, 19 December. Rainfall is expected to intensify from Thursday onwards, starting in the western regions and gradually moving eastwards. Abu Dhabi is likely to see showers late Thursday night, spreading to northern areas, Al Ain, and the eastern regions on Friday. Cloud cover is expected to decrease on Friday evening, with temperatures dropping noticeably.Residents are advised to stay alert, follow guidance from local authorities, and take precautions in areas affected by strong winds, dust, and rough sea conditions. The NCM continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as the weather develops.
