'Had lost feeling in my leg': Saif Ali Khan ADMITS he still FEARS being 'bedridden forever' after knife attack

Saif Ali Khan recalled a terrifying night when an intruder broke into his home, leading to a violent struggle that left him injured. He told The Hollywood Reporter India he “had lost feeling” in his leg after a spinal injury and still fears paralysis, calling the experience “quite close and scary.”

Earlier this year, Saif Ali Khan went through a terrifying experience when an intruder broke into his home. Things took a dangerous turn when Saif confronted the man, leading to a violent struggle that left the actor with serious injuries to his neck and spine. Now, in an interview, the actor spoke about the incident and how he survived the knife attack.

Saif Ali Khan’s terrifying night at home

While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Saif recalled how the incident came dangerously close to changing his life forever. He shared, “I feel incredibly lucky and blessed to have gotten away with it the way I did, because it was very close. There was a nick to my spinal cord, and that could have led to paralysis, because I had lost feeling in my leg for a while.

And that concept of being bedridden forever, or being paralyzed, is frightening and still frightens me. So I don’t know if that means I’ve changed, but I’m appreciative that I am healthy, and that keeps me grateful.” Saif added that he’s always considered his life a privilege, and this experience has only strengthened that feeling.

Appreciating life more than ever

He added, “I’ve always kind of been grateful, and I know that every day is a blessing. This might have accentuated it slightly. I think I’ve always lived a certain way, knowing that it is a privilege and that we’re very lucky to even go through life the way we do.”Despite recalling such a terrifying moment, Saif managed to bring his trademark humor into the conversation. He shared, “And yeah, I get the feeling I have kind of nine lives. Having said this, I might be gone tomorrow, and then you can say, ‘Oh my God, he just said nine lives.’ But I’ve been very close very often.” He added that the incident was “quite close and scary.”

Recalling the night on Twinkle Khanna and Kajol’s show

Earlier, during his appearance on ‘Two Much,’ the talk show hosted by Twinkle Khanna and Kajol, Saif opened up about the horrifying night in detail. Recalling the events, he said, “Kareena had been out (the previous night), and I had just finished watching a movie with the boys (his children Taimur and Jeh). So, we went to sleep quite late, around two in the morning. After Kareena returned, we had a small chat before we turned in. Then, the maid came in, and she said, ‘Jeh baba ke kamre mein koi hai. Uske haath mein chaaku hai aur bol rahe hai usko paisa chahiye.‘ (There’s someone in Jeh’s room. He has a knife in his hand, and he says he wants money.”

The harrowing face-off

He further said, “I kind of heard that and rolled out of bed. I barged into Jeh’s room in the dark, and I saw this guy standing over his bed with a knife. I tried to remember my training and blocked a couple of them. But then I felt a thump in my back that was really hard. By then, everyone was out of their rooms. Gita, our domestic help, aided me in this struggle and pushed the guy off me. She saved my life at that point because he had cut me everywhere. Then we locked him in a room.” Go to Source
