Rob and Michele Reiner murder: Son arrested; photos emerge of Nick handcuffed and pinned to the ground

Nick Reiner, son of slain director Rob Reiner, was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department. A dramatic photo surfaced online showing Nick Reiner on the floor being arrested in connection with the alleged murders of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, was released by the Los Angeles Police Department Gang Unit.According to LAPD Police Chief Jim McDonnell, Nick Reiner was arrested on suspicion of murder as the “main suspect” in the killings. The bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner were discovered at about 3.30 p.m. local time on Sunday in their Brentwood home by their daughter, Romy, with “lacerations consistent with a knife.” Homicide detectives immediately attended the scene, where a large police presence quickly grew. The Reiner family said they were ‘heartbroken’ by the ‘sudden loss’ they endured. Once the news was confirmed, the family released an official statement. “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” they heartbreakingly shared. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”Deputy Chief Alan S. Hamilton of the Los Angeles Police Department said at a press conference that police were “currently conducting an ongoing homicide investigation into the two deaths at Rob Reiner’s Brentwood home.” Although he had earlier said they had “not identified a suspect at this time,” a report emerged claiming Nick Reiner had been “quizzed” over their deaths.According to reports, Nick Reiner had an “very loud” argument with Rob Reiner at Conan O’Brien’s holiday party on Saturday evening. And afterwards, the death news of Rob Reiner came. In a statement, the LAPD said, “On December 14, 2025, around 3.40 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers assigned to West Los Angeles Division responded to a call of a death investigation in the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue. Once inside the residence, officers discovered two victims, who were subsequently identified as Robert and Michele Reiner. Robbery Homicide Division, Homicide Special Section (RHD/HSS), responded to the residence and initiated an investigation regarding the circumstances of their deaths.””As a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide. The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths. Nick Reiner was located and arrested at approximately 9:15 p.m. He was booked for murder and remains in custody with no bail, under Booking Number 7144668. On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration,” it added.
