PM Modi to embark on 3-country tour: Will visit Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman from Dec 15-18; aims to boost bilateral ties

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a four-day visit to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman from December 15 to 18, following invitations from the leaders of the three nations.The visit will begin in Jordan from December 15 to 16 at the invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein. During his stay, PM Modi will meet the King “to review the entire gamut of relations between India and Jordan, and exchange perspectives on regional issues.” The visit also marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and provides an opportunity to strengthen bilateral engagement, explore new areas of collaboration, and reiterate India’s commitment to promoting regional peace, prosperity, security, and stability.

From December 16 to 17, the prime minister will travel to Ethiopia for a State visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali. This will be PM Modi’s first visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. “As partners in the Global South, the visit will be a reiteration of the shared commitment of the two nations to advance close ties of friendship and bilateral cooperation,” an official statement said. The final leg of the trip will be in Oman from December 17 to 18, at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. This will be PM Modi’s second visit to the Sultanate. India and Oman share a comprehensive strategic partnership underpinned by centuries-old bonds of friendship, trade linkages, and strong people-to-people ties. The visit marks 70 years of diplomatic relations and follows the Sultan’s State visit to India in December 2023. Both sides will review cooperation in trade, investment, energy, defence, security, technology, agriculture, and culture, and “exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.”
