UAE imposes travel ban on Mali, urges citizens to return immediately

The United Arab Emirates has taken decisive action, advising its citizens against traveling to Mali and urging those already there to return immediately. The move comes as authorities emphasize the need for heightened vigilance and strict adherence to official guidance in the West African nation. On Tuesday, December 9, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official notice prohibiting all citizens from traveling to the Republic of Mali. The Ministry highlighted that the current developments in Mali pose significant risks, prompting the government to act swiftly to protect its nationals. Emirati citizens currently visiting Mali are being urged to return to the UAE without delay. The Ministry stressed the importance of following all official advisories and alerts, calling for the highest levels of caution and vigilance while navigating the situation.To support citizens abroad, the Ministry has provided a dedicated emergency contact number that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Nationals in Mali are encouraged to maintain regular communication with the Ministry through this hotline for guidance, assistance, and urgent support.The Ministry’s statement underscores the critical need for UAE citizens to adhere strictly to these instructions. Officials have emphasized that timely compliance is essential for personal safety and effective coordination during this period of concern in Mali.
