Journey Beyond Acquires Exmouth Dive & Whalesharks Ningaloo

Journey Beyond has announced the acquisition of Exmouth Dive & Whalesharks Ningaloo (Exmouth Dive Centre), a marine tour operator offering whale shark swims and diving tours on the Ningaloo Reef. This acquisition expands Journey Beyond’s portfolio of Australian experiences.

Chris Tallent, CEO of Journey Beyond CEO, said “We are thrilled to welcome Exmouth Dive & Whalesharks Ningaloo to Journey Beyond’s growing portfolio of iconic experiences. This marks an exciting step for Journey Beyond in Western Australia and allows the group to further expand our offerings of immersive, authentic and uniquely Australian experiences.”

Journey Beyond and Exmouth Dive & Whalesharks Ningaloo have shared a long-standing partnership, particularly as part of the destination experience for guests at Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef. EDWN provides a rare and unique array of wildlife encounters, including guided swims with whale sharks and humpback whales—offering travelers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close with these gentle giants. These encounters create unforgettable moments that define a guest’s experience, exclusive to this magical corner of Australia.

Alicia Triggs, executive general manager, sales and partnerships at Journey Beyond, commented, “The EDWN offering perfectly aligns with Journey Beyond’s commitment to delivering truly  unforgettable tourism experiences that take guests beyond the ordinary. Ningaloo is a one-of-a-kind destination, and we’re excited to bring this exceptional experience closer to our guests.

“This announcement supports Journey Beyond’s broader growth strategy, especially in experiences that complement our existing brands,” Triggs added. “The integration of EDWN into the Journey Beyond Group and Exmouth operations will enhance Sal Salis’s offerings and allow us to provide seamless, end-to-end experiences that only Journey Beyond can deliver.”

Following regulatory approvals, EDWN will operate within Journey Beyond’s Marine Division under General Manager Niko Peranovic. “We are delighted to welcome this outstanding experience and the EDWN team into the Journey Beyond family,’ Peranovic said. “We look forward to working together to boost visitation to Exmouth and to continue offering unparalleled opportunities that connect guests with the beauty of Ningaloo.”
