And Just Like That Boss Explains Why The Finale Had To Include That 1 Gross-Out Scene

This article contains spoilers for the And Just Like That finale.

Since it premiered in 2021, And Just Like That has given us some unforgettable scenes that no one could have predicted back when we were watching Sex And The City.

When asked about the scene during an interview with Variety, Michael Patrick said it was part of a long-standing tradition of not letting the show get too big for its boots.

He explained: “Whenever anyone in this universe, Sex And The City or And Just Like That, stands on a soapbox to make a speech, the soapbox breaks. We cannot take ourselves too seriously.”

Michael Patrick continued: “For the gorgeousness of Carrie’s pink, sparkly top and tulle skirt – that’s the high – the low is a toilet filled up with shit. Because guess what? Being single, there’s a lot of shit, and relationships are a lot of shit.

“It’s the comedy, with the drama, with the romance, with the fairytale. I guess it’s a response to the fairytale.”
