World News: Hurricane Melissa Devastates Jamaica, Vietnam Hit By Floods, Rescue Operations Underway

Hurricane Melissa has unleashed massive destruction across Jamaica, leaving widespread devastation in its wake. The powerful storm caused severe damage in the southwestern parts of the country, where torrential rains flooded streets and neighborhoods, strong winds tore off rooftops, and uprooted trees blocked major roads, halting all vehicular movement. Thousands of homes and businesses were destroyed, plunging several regions into darkness after power lines collapsed. Hundreds of stranded tourists remain confined to hotels, while thousands of residents have taken shelter in relief camps. Rescue teams are working tirelessly to provide food, water, and medical aid to affected areas, though communication lines remain down in many parts of the island. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, continuous heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding and landslides, submerging entire towns and cutting off access to remote villages. Several people have been reported dead or missing, with emergency crews rescuing stranded residents and moving them to safer locations. Authorities have issued alerts warning that the downpour may persist, heightening the risk of further flooding and landslides in the coming days. Both Jamaica and Vietnam face challenging recovery efforts as rescue operations continue amid worsening weather conditions.
