Strategic Vision: PM Modi Sets Bold Roadmap for India–Malaysia Partnership, Sends Firm Message on Terrorism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address in Malaysia, laid out an ambitious and forward-looking vision for India–Malaysia relations, while delivering a clear and uncompromising message on terrorism. Praising Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, PM Modi said bilateral ties have gained remarkable momentum in recent years due to shared trust and leadership commitment. He highlighted strong cooperation in energy infrastructure, manufacturing, digital economy, biotechnology, and IT, noting a steady rise in mutual investments. The Prime Minister also emphasized deepening collaboration in counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, maritime security, and defence, calling the support of friendly nations crucial in combating terrorism. His message was unambiguous: no double standards and no compromises when it comes to terrorism. PM Modi announced expanded cooperation in AI, digital technologies, semiconductors, healthcare, and food security, and said the CEO Forum had opened new avenues for trade and investment. He underlined the importance of people-to-people ties, calling the three-million-strong Indian diaspora in Malaysia a living bridge between the two nations. Measures such as a social security agreement, UPI integration, simplified e-visa systems, and worker protection were described as people-centric milestones. Cultural bonds, especially the shared love for the Tamil language, were also highlighted, along with initiatives in education, startups, skill development, and the opening of a new Indian consulate in Malaysia. On the global stage, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to ASEAN centrality, Indo-Pacific peace, and reform of global institutions to address modern challenges.
