Power Play: Iran’s Multi-Layer Strategy Tightens Grip on Strait of Hormuz

The situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains highly tense as Iran strengthens its strategic control in the region. Iran’s power is described through multiple factors, including its control over nearby island groups, missile bases, naval presence, underwater drones, and the deployment of naval mines, which collectively increase its influence over key shipping routes. In response, the United States has intensified its naval operations and released images of the warship USS Tripoli, equipped with F-35 fighter aircraft and carrying over 2,200 troops, highlighting its strengthened blockade strategy in the region. Meanwhile, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) reported that around 20,000 sailors are currently stranded in the Gulf due to ongoing tensions. At the United Nations, heated exchanges occurred between U.S. and Iranian officials during a nuclear non-proliferation meeting, reflecting deep disagreements over Iran’s nuclear program. Russia also expressed concerns over Iran being targeted. UN officials have warned about the rising number of nuclear warheads globally and stressed the need for disarmament to prevent future conflict.
