Missile War Update: Iran Fires 11 Ballistic Missiles at Israel Including Kheibar Shekan Strike

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply after reports that Iran launched 11 ballistic missiles toward Israel in a coordinated overnight strike. Among the missiles reportedly used was the advanced Kheibar Shekan system, considered one of Iran’s most powerful long-range ballistic missiles, intensifying concerns over the scale and sophistication of the attack. According to defence assessments, the missile barrage included multiple systems with varying ranges, indicating a layered strike strategy. Short and medium-range missiles such as Shahab variants were reportedly deployed alongside longer-range systems like Kheibar Shekan and Khorramshahr, enabling Iran to target multiple locations simultaneously. Analysts suggest that such a mix is designed to overwhelm missile defence systems by saturating interception capabilities. The reported targets included key Israeli cities and military installations, with Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem among the areas affected. Strategic air bases and command facilities were also believed to be part of the strike pattern, raising concerns about the broader military intent behind the operation. Military experts note that some of these missiles are believed to carry advanced payload configurations, including cluster-type warheads, which can disperse multiple sub-munitions over a wider area. This significantly complicates interception efforts and increases the pressure on Israel’s multi-layered air defence systems. Regional analysts also highlight the maritime dimension of the conflict, pointing to the strategic importance of the Hormuz region and nearby islands, which play a key role in Iran’s naval and missile operations. These areas are seen as critical nodes for surveillance, drone deployment, and maritime control. As both sides continue exchanging strikes, the conflict is rapidly evolving into a multi-domain confrontation involving land, air, and sea assets. Security observers warn that further escalation could widen the conflict footprint across the Middle East, drawing in allied forces and increasing risks to global stability.
