In Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro, a massive military and police operation against drug traffickers has resulted in at least 64 deaths and over 80 arrests. The operation targeted the “Red Command,” one of the country’s most feared drug syndicates known for operating from densely populated slum areas that serve as hideouts for criminal gangs. During the raid, intense gunfire broke out, leading to multiple explosions and fires that engulfed several buildings. Thick smoke was seen rising over the city as security forces retaliated against heavy mafia resistance. Several vehicles were destroyed in the clashes, and a large quantity of weapons and narcotics was seized from the suspects. The operation was part of Brazil’s larger campaign to dismantle narco-terrorism and organized crime networks. In a separate incident in India’s Hanumangarh, a JCB driver caused chaos by speeding through a crowded market street, hitting several motorcycles before escaping. Police have launched an investigation.
