During a televised debate on the ongoing US-Iran tensions, American affairs expert Dr. Ravi Godse argued that former US President Donald Trump’s changing statements on Iran reflect a deliberate negotiation strategy rather than confusion. Referring to Trump’s “Art of the Deal” approach, he suggested that creating uncertainty is intended to generate pressure and divisions within Iran’s leadership. Responding to these claims, Professor Zamir Abbas Jafri of Al-Mustafa University in Iran rejected the idea that Tehran is politically fragmented. He explained that Iran functions through a constitutional framework in which key decisions are taken collectively by institutions such as the Supreme National Security Council and the Supreme Leader, rather than by a single individual. The discussion also highlighted Iran’s official response to Trump’s latest claim that a peace deal is imminent. Tehran stated that no final decision has been reached and that any agreement would be announced only after negotiations on the draft terms are formally concluded. The debate further examined Iran’s strategic position in the Hormuz Strait, with analysts noting that its control over critical maritime assets continues to provide significant leverage in the regional standoff with the United States.
