The ongoing Middle East war has entered a highly dangerous phase, with attacks now targeting vital energy infrastructure—posing a serious threat to the global economy. In a major escalation, Iran has launched strikes on energy facilities in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. This comes after earlier attacks on Iran’s own gas assets, triggering a strong retaliation. A significant strike hit the Ras Laffan Industrial City, part of the world’s largest natural gas complex. The attack caused a massive fire at a refinery, leading to heavy damage. Authorities confirmed the incident, evacuated workers, and emergency teams worked for hours before bringing the fire under control. At the same time, Iran carried out a ballistic missile strike in Riyadh, targeting a refinery near the Prince Sultan Air Base. A powerful explosion was reported near the U.S. military-linked zone. The conflict also revolves around the South Pars Gas Field, the world’s largest natural gas reserve shared by Iran and Qatar. It supplies about 70% of Iran’s domestic gas, while Qatar relies on it for global LNG exports. Strikes on such critical infrastructure have raised global alarm, as disruptions could trigger a massive energy crisis. Iran says these attacks are retaliation against earlier strikes by Israel and the United States.
