Alliance Strain: US–Israel Rift Debate Grows Amid Claims of Miscalculation in Iran War

Tensions and debates are rising over the role of Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump in the ongoing war with Iran. Questions are being raised over whether Israel influenced the US into entering the conflict based on intelligence about Iran’s nuclear threat. US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard reportedly stated that Iran had not restarted its nuclear weapons program, contradicting earlier claims used to justify the war. Despite this, Trump proceeded with military action after discussions with Netanyahu. Netanyahu, however, has denied misleading the US, insisting that no one can “trap” Trump into war decisions. Reports suggest that Israeli intelligence, including inputs from Mossad, highlighted Iran as an immediate threat. Meanwhile, Iranian officials claim that the US attacked during ongoing nuclear negotiations, further damaging trust. Experts like John Mearsheimer argue the war lacks clear objectives and may not be winnable, leaving the US in a difficult strategic position.
