Driving from Delhi to London sounds like a far-fetched idea, right? But recently, Amarjeet Singh Chawla, popularly known as The Turban Traveller online, shared a step-by-step route for this epic journey. From roads to ferries, he left no detail untouched.

In an interview with News18 Haryana, he explained details about the route from Delhi to London and made a trip that seems impossible on paper, almost possible.

The Road From Delhi To London

When asked how to travel from Delhi to London, Chawla said, “Delhi se London jana bahut asaan hai. Logo ke dimag me ye hota hai ki kaise jayenge, raste mein samundar ayega aur waha se gaadi kaise jayegi (Going from Delhi to London is very easy. People think there will be oceans on the way and wonder how their car will travel).”

Chawla explained the route in detail. The first options, he said, are blocked. “Delhi se London jane ka rasta teen jagah hokar jata hai – ek yaha se Myanmar ho kar jo ki band hai 2017 se. Dusra hai Pakistan wala – wo bhi kaafi saalo se band hai (There are three main routes: through Myanmar, which has been closed since 2017, and through Pakistan, which has also been closed for many years),” Chawla continued.

After ruling out the routes through Myanmar and Pakistan, the only way left is to head north through Nepal and then enter China. From there, the journey continues across the vast stretches of China until reaching Central Asia and then passing through countries like Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. After crossing these regions, the next major stop is Russia, which marks the beginning of the European border.

Chawla continued the journey, saying, “Russia ka jo akhiri sehar hai – Saint Petersburg – waha se jo pehla border hai Europe ka wo hai Estonia. Usko pass kare, fir uski capital aa jati hai waha par (From Saint Petersburg, you reach Estonia—the first European border—and then its capital.”

Crossing Europe And The Final Stretch

From there, it is a mix of ferries and road travel across Europe. “Uske bad waha se ek ship jata hai, ferry hai jisme aapki car chadh jati hai aur fir aap 1.5 hour mein pauch jate hai Finland. Fir Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Belgium aur the Netherlands – ye sab bhi isi tarike se cross karne hote hai jaise kahi ship par chale gaye toh kahi by road (Then there’s a ferry where your car boards, and in 1.5 hours you reach Finland. After that, you cross Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands sometimes by ship, sometimes by road),” Chawla said.

Once the journey reaches France, he informs viewers that travellers can take an underground train where they can park their car on board and in just about 1.5 hours, they reach London. Alternatively, if they prefer, there is also a ferry option to cross over to the UK.

Delhi To London? Internet Lost It

As expected, the internet had a field day. People couldn’t stop reacting with sarcasm and jokes.

One user commented, “Aaj tak kitna kharcha aa gya hoga aapka? Mera mtlb main Kitne crore lekr niklu Chandigarh se? (How much would this trip have cost till now? I mean, how many crores should I take from Chandigarh)?”

Another jokingly said, “Yahan Gurugram se Delhi ni ho paata (I can’t even go from Gurugram to Delhi).”

“Uncle is world map,” someone remarked while a person added, “Reached London from Delhi via Insta in max 1 min with Singh Sahab.”

“Main poora clip aise dekh raha hu jaise kal hi nikalne wala hu (I am watching the whole clip as if I am leaving tomorrow),” a viewer said.

Other remarks included: “Bro has done PHD on travelling,” “Ye asaan lag raha hai? (Does this seem easy?)” and “Canada jaake dikhao by road toh maanu”(Go to Canada by road and then I’ll believe it).”

Six Months On The Road

Chawla began his epic journey from Delhi to London in July 2018. After six months of driving across multiple countries in his Toyota SUV, he finally completed the trip in December.
