2. Nine forms of goddess Durga are invoked within nine small urns.
3. Kumari Puja, or worshipping of young, unmarried girls, as manifestations of Devi Durga, is performed today.
4. Sandhi Puja, marking the transition period from Maha Ashtami to Maha Navami. Is performed today.
5. 108 earthen lamps are lit during Sandhikaal. The highest of energies are believed to emanate from the universe during this time.
