Julia Roberts lit up the red carpet at the 63rd New York Film Festival on Friday evening, held at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. The Academy Award–winning actress, 57, turned heads in a shimmering grey sequined suit jacket, but it was her choice of jewellery that truly stole the show.

Roberts accessorized her look with a striking pair of chandelier-style earrings by celebrated Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Crafted in 18k gold and set with aquamarine and EF VVS-VS diamonds, the dramatic golden danglers added both opulence and edge to her ensemble. The actress was in attendance for the premiere of After the Hunt, her upcoming psychological thriller with Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield.

This dazzling moment is also a nod to Roberts’ long-standing admiration for India. Over the years, she has often chosen Indian-inspired jewellery for her public appearances and spoken fondly of the country’s artistry. Her 2010 film Eat Pray Love famously showcased India’s vibrant spirit, further deepening her association with its culture and design heritage.

Sabyasachi’s Growing Hollywood Legacy

Roberts isn’t the first A-lister to champion Sabyasachi on an international stage. In 2024, Jennifer Lopez elevated her red-carpet look at the Wicked premiere with the designer’s high jewellery, pairing her gown with chunky beaded bracelets. She had earlier selected a mix of Sabyasachi earrings, a cuff, and a statement ring for the Golden Globes party.

Similarly, Colombian star Sofia Vergara brought glamour to the America’s Got Talent finale in a bold Sabyasachi necklace-and-earrings set, proving that the Kolkata-based designer’s creations continue to resonate far beyond India.

With Julia Roberts now joining the list of global icons donning Sabyasachi’s high jewellery, the brand further cements its place as a powerful name in Hollywood’s luxury fashion and red-carpet moments.
