China’s mesmerising Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, dubbed “the Earth’s crack”, is now open to traffic. Built 625 metres above the Beipan River, the stunning engineering marvel is the world’s tallest bridge. (Image: Instagram)

Built in about three and a half years, the bridge is 2,890 meters long with a main span of 1,420 meters. This bridge sets the record for both the tallest bridge in the world and the world’s largest span bridge built in a mountainous area. (Image: Instagram)

One of the most remarkable aspects of the bridge is its dramatic impact on travel time across the Huajiang Grand Canyon. A route that previously took two hours can now be crossed in just two minutes, greatly improving both accessibility and convenience. (Image: Instagram)

The bridge had completed a key load test on August 25. The load test, considered the final step before the bridge welcomes traffic — included both static and dynamic tests. The testing team drove 96 trucks, weighing about 3,300 tons in total, onto designated points of the deck in batches to measure displacement and stress in the main span, towers, cables and suspenders. On its grand debut, the world watched in awe as live drone footage—broadcast by state media—showed vehicles gliding across the cyan-blue bridge, slicing through clouds in a surreal, sci-fi-like spectacle. A few standout features include (Image: Instagram)

Glass Elevator to the Sky: Just when you think the experience couldn’t get more breathtaking, the bridge unveils a high-speed glass elevator. This vertical marvel lifts visitors even higher than the bridge deck itself—soaring 2,600 feet above the river—to a charming coffee shop perched in the clouds. (Image: Instagram)

Coffee with a View: For coffee lovers, it’s a dream destination. Sip on freshly brewed drinks and nibble on savouries while gazing at dramatic cliffs, plunging valleys, a thunderous waterfall cascading from lush hills, drifting clouds, and the roaring Beipan River far below. It’s not just a bridge; it’s a full-blown sensory experience. (Image: Instagram)

Glass Walkway and Observation Hall: Visitors can take a breathtaking stroll along a glass walkway suspended 1,900 feet above the canyon floor—perfect for snapping jaw-dropping, Instagram-worthy photos. For panoramic views, the bridge also features a stunning 1,000-square-metre observation hall made entirely of glass, offering uninterrupted vistas of the surrounding cliffs, valleys, and river below. Adrenaline-packed Adventures: For thrill-seekers, the bridge is more than just a scenic marvel. It hosts a bungee-jumping station that promises a rush like no other. And that’s just the beginning. Plans are underway to introduce low-altitude skydiving and paragliding experiences, turning this engineering wonder into a full-fledged adventure destination. (Image: Instagram)
