Weather Update: Dense Fog Disrupts Life in Delhi, Haryana as Tourists Enjoy Snowfall in Himachal Pradesh

Contrasting weather conditions are being witnessed across North India, with dense fog gripping Delhi, Haryana, and parts of Uttarakhand, while tourists continue to enjoy fresh snowfall in Himachal Pradesh. Visuals clearly show near-zero visibility on roads in Delhi and Haryana, significantly impacting daily life and transportation. At Kartavya Path in the national capital, thick layers of fog and smog have enveloped the area. The situation has been aggravated by a persistently high Air Quality Index (AQI), which remains in the severe category despite some minor relief in recent days. Government measures have been implemented to curb pollution, but a significant improvement in air quality is yet to be seen. The dense fog has adversely affected road and rail traffic across the Delhi-NCR region. Vehicles are moving at very slow speeds, with headlights turned on even during daytime due to poor visibility. Similar conditions have been reported from Varanasi (Kashi), where cold waves combined with dense fog have forced people to take shelter around bonfires. The minimum temperature in several areas has dropped to around 9 degrees Celsius, intensifying the cold. According to the Meteorological Department, an approaching western disturbance may further worsen weather conditions in the coming days, potentially increasing fog cover as wind speeds remain low.
