Heavy rainfall continues to create havoc across several parts of India, with incidents of landslides, flooding, waterlogging and structural collapses being reported from multiple cities. From Pune and Mumbai to Noida, Amroha and Shimla, relentless rains have disrupted normal life and increased the risk of further damage. In Noida Sector 12, a weak wall built on Noida Authority land collapsed after heavy rain, crushing three parked cars underneath. Fortunately, no one was present near the vehicles at the time of the incident. Local residents alleged that this was not the first time the wall had collapsed and claimed repeated complaints were ignored, with only temporary repairs carried out. In Pune’s Parvati area, a massive roadside tree suddenly fell, causing panic among commuters. Some people suffered minor injuries, while municipal teams reached the spot and started removing the fallen tree with heavy machinery. Meanwhile, rising water levels in the Ganga due to continuous rainfall and water release from Bijnor Barrage have increased flood concerns in Amroha and nearby areas. In Bijnor, a young man was swept away while attempting to cross a river crossing amid strong currents. Rescue teams and divers have been searching for him, but no trace has been found so far. In Shimla’s Sanjauli area, a major landslide created a dangerous situation for residents, with several houses coming under threat. Locals were forced to spend the night outside due to fears of further collapse, while roads and access routes were also damaged. With the monsoon intensifying, authorities across affected regions are monitoring vulnerable areas and carrying out rescue and relief operations. The continuing rainfall has highlighted concerns over drainage systems, infrastructure safety and disaster preparedness in several cities.
