Weather Disaster: Cloudbursts and Flash Floods Wreak Havoc Across Jammu & Kashmir

Severe weather conditions have caused widespread disruption across several districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Cloudbursts, heavy rainfall, flash floods, landslides, strong winds, and hailstorms have affected areas including Doda, Kishtwar, Anantnag, Bandipora, Budgam, Pulwama, and Pahalgam. In Doda’s Thathri region, intense rainfall triggered flash floods and landslides, blocking roads and damaging infrastructure. One person reportedly died after being struck by lightning. In Kishtwar, cloudbursts led to flooding, road blockages, and landslides, while debris and rocks from surrounding hills disrupted transportation. Strong winds and rain in Anantnag uprooted trees and injured several people. Bandipora and Budgam witnessed waterlogging and traffic disruptions following heavy downpours. Hailstorms in Pulwama and Awantipora damaged apple orchards and standing crops, affecting local farmers. Meanwhile, in Pahalgam, a soldier participating in a rescue mission slipped into the fast-flowing Lidder River but was successfully rescued by emergency teams. Authorities have issued alerts and advised residents to avoid rivers, streams, and vulnerable areas.
