Tension escalated on Tuesday at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith in Varanasi when two student groups once again confronted each other inside the campus. Amid the chaos, one student was seen openly brandishing a pistol, prompting an immediate response from the police. Officers sprinted across the campus and managed to overpower and detain the student before the situation could deteriorate further. Authorities are now investigating the motive behind the confrontation and the presence of a firearm inside the university premises. In a separate incident, a massive fire broke out at the Shishu Mandir School located in the Nandital area near Cheena Baba locality. The blaze spread rapidly and took a fierce form, raising fears of damage to nearby buildings. Witnesses described scenes of panic as residents and students ran for safety. Thick smoke and intense flames created a hazardous situation, forcing police to cordon off the area and urge people to maintain distance. Fire brigade teams worked for several hours to bring the flames under control. While the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, initial reports indicate significant property damage. Authorities have initiated a detailed inquiry into both incidents to ensure accountability and strengthen safety measures.
