UPDATE: Rajnath Singh Calls High-Level Meet On West Asia Crisis And Indian Maritime Security

Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, Rajnath Singh has convened a crucial high-level meeting to assess the security situation and safeguard India’s strategic interests in the region. The meeting, scheduled for 11:00 AM at Kartavya Bhavan, will focus on the safety of Indian vessels and citizens caught in the conflict zone. Top defence leadership, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Navy Chief, Air Force Chief, and Defence Secretary, are expected to participate in the discussions. A primary concern is the protection of Indian cargo ships and oil tankers operating in sensitive maritime zones such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf. Reports indicate that multiple Indian vessels are currently navigating these high-risk waters, requiring coordinated naval security. The Indian Navy has already deployed several warships to escort and secure commercial shipping routes, ensuring uninterrupted energy supplies to India. The meeting is also expected to review contingency plans for evacuating Indian nationals still present in affected Gulf countries. This move follows recent government efforts led by Narendra Modi, under which thousands of Indian citizens have already been safely repatriated from conflict-hit areas. Officials will now deliberate on expanding evacuation operations and enhancing maritime coordination. The outcome of this meeting is seen as critical in shaping India’s immediate response to the rapidly evolving geopolitical crisis.
