UP Winter Assembly: Session Day 2 Likely to Be Stormy as Supplementary Budget to Be Tabled Today

The second day of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s winter session is underway today, with strong chances of heated exchanges and disruptions in the House. Political tensions are expected to rise as opposition parties may create an uproar over the issue of alleged misuse of codeine-based cough syrup. The proceedings are scheduled to intensify around noon, when the state government will present the supplementary budget in the Assembly at 12:00 PM. The budget is expected to outline additional financial allocations for ongoing and new government schemes, making it a key agenda item of the day. Alongside the budget, a special discussion on “Vande Mataram” has also been listed in the Assembly’s agenda. This discussion is likely to draw sharp reactions from both the ruling party and the opposition, further increasing the possibility of disruptions during the session. Sources indicate that the opposition is preparing to corner the government on multiple issues, including law and order and alleged irregularities, while the ruling party aims to push forward its legislative and financial agenda. Marshals and security arrangements have been strengthened in anticipation of possible chaos inside the House. The winter session is considered crucial, as several important discussions and decisions are expected in the coming days. All eyes remain on how smoothly today’s proceedings unfold amid expectations of confrontation.
