Amid the ongoing Winter Session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, political activity has intensified after a significant meeting of BJP’s Brahmin MLAs in Lucknow. Around 40 Brahmin legislators gathered at BJP MLA P.N. Pathak’s residence, with representatives from Purvanchal and Bundelkhand in attendance. The meeting, described as a “Sahbhoj,” reportedly focused on concerns over the declining political voice of the Brahmin community and the need to raise social and cultural issues. Sources suggest discussions also touched upon caste dynamics and representation ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. BJP leaders, however, have maintained that the meeting was social in nature and aimed at cultural introspection, not political mobilization. With 46 of UP’s 52 Brahmin MLAs belonging to the BJP, the gathering has triggered fresh political speculation.
