In a major law enforcement operation, Uttar Pradesh Police have neutralized a wanted criminal during an encounter in Saharanpur district. The deceased accused, identified as Siraj, was carrying a reward of ₹5,000 on his head and had as many as 46 criminal cases registered against him. According to police sources, the encounter took place during a routine operation aimed at curbing criminal activities in the region. Siraj allegedly opened fire at the police team, prompting retaliatory action. He sustained critical injuries in the exchange of fire and was later declared dead. In a separate but related development highlighting intensified police action across the state, another encounter was reported in Bulandshahr, where a notorious criminal carrying a reward of ₹50,000 was gunned down following a confrontation with police. During the operation, police recovered a pistol, 30 cartridges, and a motorcycle from the spot. Senior police officials stated that these encounters are part of a sustained crackdown on hardened criminals involved in serious offenses. The recoveries made at the encounter sites further indicate the accused were heavily armed and posed a significant threat to public safety. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and warned criminals to surrender or face strict action. Further investigation is underway to verify the criminal networks linked to the deceased accused.
