Unnao Rape Case: Supreme Court Begins Hearing on CBI Plea Against Kuldeep Sengar’s Bail

A major development has emerged in the Unnao rape case as the Supreme Court has begun hearing the CBI’s Special Leave Petition (SLP) challenging the bail granted to former MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar. The hearing is underway inside the apex court, with national attention focused on whether relief will be denied or legal trouble will increase for Sengar. Ahead of the hearing, women activists staged protests outside the Supreme Court, demanding justice for the victim. The CBI argued that the victim was a minor at the time of the incident, making the offence extremely serious under POCSO and IPC provisions. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the CBI, contended that the High Court ignored the gravity of the crime while granting bail. The Supreme Court is examining the legal grounds, and further arguments from Sengar’s counsel are awaited.
