  • Court denies second post-mortem for model Twisha Sharma.
  • Police warn body may decompose without ultra-low storage.
  • Family demands fresh autopsy citing investigation inconsistencies.

A court has refused to allow a second post-mortem examination of model and actor Twisha Sharma, even as her family continues to demand a fresh autopsy amid allegations of inconsistencies in the investigation.

The development comes as Bhopal Police formally wrote to Twisha Sharma’s father, warning that her body could begin decomposing due to the lack of ultra-low temperature storage facilities at AIIMS Bhopal.

Twisha Sharma Case Details

Twisha was found dead on May 12 at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area. A post-mortem was conducted on May 13, after which her body has remained in the mortuary.

In a letter dated May 20, the Station House Officer of Katara Hills police station informed Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma of Greater Noida, that the body has been stored at -4°C in the AIIMS Bhopal mortuary.

The letter further cited a communication from the Forensic Medicine and Pathology Department of AIIMS Bhopal dated May 18, which warned that the body should ideally be preserved at -80°C to prevent decomposition, a facility not available at the institute.

“The body is presently kept at -4°C in the AIIMS Bhopal mortuary room. The FMP Department of AIIMS Bhopal has informed that in order to prevent decomposition, the body should be kept at -80°C, and this facility is not available at AIIMS Bhopal,” the letter stated.

Police Say No Objection To Fresh Autopsy

The police reiterated in their communication that they have “no objection” if a second post-mortem is conducted. However, the SHO also warned that due to the prolonged storage of the body, “there is every possibility of decomposition,” and urged the family to take custody of the remains.

Family’s Demand and Ongoing Dispute

The family of Twisha Sharma has been pressing for a second post-mortem, alleging inconsistencies in the first autopsy and lapses in the investigation.

Police, meanwhile, have maintained that they have no objection to a repeat post-mortem if ordered by the court.

Investigation Status: Police Point To Suicide

Bhopal Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar has stated that the investigation so far “points towards suicide and not murder.” He also said the family’s request for a second post-mortem has been included in the case diary.

Post-Mortem Findings Under Scrutiny

Twisha Sharma’s post-mortem report recorded a double ligature mark on the neck along with multiple bruises and abrasions on her arms, forearm, and fingers. These findings have become central to the family’s demand for an independent review of the autopsy.
