Tej Pratap Yadav Unveils Jan Shakti Janata Dal, Blackboard Symbol Proposed For Bihar Polls

Bihar’s political landscape witnessed a dramatic shift as Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, formally announced his new party Jan Shakti Janata Dal (JSJD). The declaration came through a poster shared on social media platform X, where Tej Pratap introduced himself as the national president. The party’s proposed symbol is the blackboard, although confirmation from the Election Commission regarding its allotment is still awaited. What grabbed attention was the absence of his parents, Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, on the party poster. Instead, portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Ram Manohar Lohia, Karpoori Thakur, and Jayaprakash Narayan were highlighted, suggesting a shift towards broader ideological inspirations. The party’s slogan emphasizes “social justice, complete change, and holistic development,” indicating Tej Pratap’s attempt to carve an independent political identity.Earlier, Tej Pratap had already announced candidates for four assembly seats, initially stating they would contest as independents. Now, with the launch of JSJD, those candidates are expected to align with the new party. Analysts say this move may escalate tensions within the Yadav family, directly challenging younger brother Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership. With multiple new outfits in play, Bihar’s upcoming elections promise heightened competition.
