Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Somnath Temple during the Somnath Swabhiman Yatra was a grand display of devotion, history, and cultural pride. Thousands of people, including women and children, gathered hours in advance to witness the Shaurya Sabha and the ceremonial events. Visuals from the event showed PM Modi greeting the crowd, receiving a replica of the Somnath Temple, a ceremonial trishul, damru, and a turban, as part of the traditional welcome. Inside the temple, he performed abhishek of the Shivling with full Vedic rituals and participated in the chanting of sacred mantras, demonstrating his deep spiritual connection. During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the temple’s thousand-year history, noting that it was destroyed 17 times—from Mahmud Ghazni to Aurangzeb—and rebuilt each time, symbolizing India’s resilience. He also paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his pivotal role in the 1951 reconstruction, emphasizing the temple as a representation of both devotion and national pride. The event celebrated courage, faith, and India’s rich spiritual heritage, reinforcing the significance of remembering heroes and preserving cultural traditions.
