Ranchi Exam Row: TGT 2016 Candidates Allege Merit Anomalies, Show Documents From Court Battle

The student agitation over alleged examination irregularities in Jharkhand has entered its 15th day, with protesters continuing their demonstration at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi. Amid the ongoing movement, candidates who appeared for the Jharkhand TGT 2016 examination have raised fresh allegations of discrepancies in the recruitment process and presented documents related to their cases. According to the candidates, some applicants who secured higher marks were allegedly denied appointments, while candidates with comparatively lower scores were selected for teaching posts. They have cited documents submitted during legal proceedings to support their claims. One candidate, Mohammad Iqbal Hussain, has alleged that despite securing 238 marks in the Urdu subject, he was not appointed, while candidates with lower scores were allegedly selected. Another candidate, Sunil Kumar, claimed that he scored 184 marks in Geography but was not appointed, while candidates with marks ranging from 152 to 178 were allegedly selected. Candidates have also raised similar concerns regarding the Mathematics and Physics recruitment process. Rajesh Sahu, who claims to have secured 154 marks, said he was denied appointment while candidates with lower scores were allegedly selected. The candidates have urged the Jharkhand government and recruitment authorities to examine the records carefully and address the alleged discrepancies. They argue that candidates should not suffer because of errors, whether at the department, recruitment agency or administrative level. The allegations come at a time when students across Ranchi are demanding greater transparency in competitive examinations, cancellation of disputed tests and independent investigations into alleged irregularities.
