Punjab Political Buzz: AAP Plans Two Deputy CMs Ahead of Assembly Elections

With Assembly elections due next year in Punjab, political activity has intensified. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is holding an anti-drug rally in Moga today, followed by a crucial meeting of ministers and MLAs. Sources indicate that the party is preparing to appoint two Deputy Chief Ministers in the state. According to insiders, one Deputy CM is likely to be from the Scheduled Caste (Dalit) community, while the other may belong to the general category. This move aligns with AAP’s earlier manifesto promise of appointing a Deputy CM from the Dalit community if voted to power. The development comes amid increasing political activity by rivals, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), whose outreach efforts have reportedly intensified in Punjab. AAP is believed to be keen on consolidating its Dalit vote base, which plays a crucial role in the state’s electoral politics. Among the names under consideration are cabinet ministers Harpal Cheema and Baljit Kaur from the Dalit category, while Aman Arora and Sandeep Arora are also being discussed for the second Deputy CM post. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is expected to play a key role in the final decision. The announcement could come soon as AAP looks to strengthen its social and caste equations ahead of the elections.
