Public Burden Increases: Common Man Faces Higher Transport and Living Costs

Petrol and diesel prices in India have increased again for the second time in five days, putting additional burden on consumers. In Delhi, petrol has risen to ₹98.64 per litre and diesel to ₹91.58 per litre, with an increase of around 87 paise and 91 paise respectively. Overall, fuel prices have gone up by nearly ₹4 per litre in the last five days. The rise is being linked to a sharp increase in global crude oil prices, with Brent crude reportedly near $111 per barrel, which has pushed fuel costs higher in India as well. Major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai have all recorded price hikes, with Mumbai petrol around ₹107.59 and diesel about ₹94.08 per litre. The continuous increase is raising concerns over inflation and increasing financial pressure on households across the country.
