Fresh political violence has been reported from Kolkata, where the residence of a Bharatiya Janata Party polling agent was allegedly attacked in the Behala West Assembly area after voting concluded. The incident has further intensified concerns over post-election tensions in West Bengal. According to reports, the home of BJP polling agent Prasenjit Brahma was targeted by a group of individuals allegedly linked to local political workers. His brother, who is associated with the RSS, was also reportedly assaulted during the attack. Both injured individuals have been admitted to hospital and are undergoing treatment. Eyewitness accounts and family members claim that a group of 40–50 people arrived at the residence and carried out the attack using sticks and stones, causing significant damage to the property. Visuals from the scene show broken household items, scattered debris, and signs of vandalism outside the house. The victim’s family has alleged political motivation behind the attack and has filed a police complaint. They also claimed that immediate police assistance was not provided at the time of the incident. Security has since been increased in the area following the violence. The ruling All India Trinamool Congress has denied the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. Meanwhile, opposition leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party have accused their rivals of orchestrating post-poll violence. The incident comes amid a long-standing pattern of election-related tensions in West Bengal, where political clashes have frequently been reported during and after voting phases. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
