A political standoff continues in Parliament as sources claim the opposition is preparing to bring a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Reports suggest that by Monday evening, around 102 opposition MPs, including members from Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, and others, had signed the notice. As per constitutional provisions under Article 94, at least 100 MPs are required to submit a notice to initiate the process. However, numbers remain a challenge for the opposition, as the ruling side reportedly holds around 297 MPs, while the opposition has around 238, far from the 272 votes needed to remove the Speaker. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti, a shocking case emerged where a student was allegedly targeted in an attempt to burn him alive. The victim survived after waking up in time. The dispute is reportedly linked to an ongoing family property conflict. In another major development, protests erupted in Bhawali, Nainital, after a minor girl was found pregnant. Police have arrested the accused and registered a case under rape and POCSO laws, urging people to maintain peace and avoid spreading tension.
