A major political moment is unfolding in Bihar as Nishant Kumar, the son of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, moves toward formally joining the Janata Dal (United). As Nishant headed to the party headquarters in Patna, supporters gave him a grand welcome, even showering flowers on his convoy from a JCB machine while party workers chanted slogans in his support. Large numbers of JD(U) workers gathered along the route, surrounding his vehicle and celebrating what many are calling the beginning of a “new political era” for the party. Nishant has largely stayed away from active politics until recently, although he had occasionally been seen alongside his father in public events. Inside the JD(U) office, Nishant reached the Karpoori Auditorium, where he is expected to formally take party membership. Several senior leaders were present, including Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), JD(U) working president Sanjay Jha, and state minister Shravan Kumar. Party workers from across Bihar have arrived in Patna, expressing excitement and hope that Nishant will carry forward Nitish Kumar’s political legacy. Some leaders have even suggested that Nishant could become a Member of the Legislative Council and potentially serve as Deputy Chief Minister in the future.
