Politics: Himanta Biswa Sarma Set to Return as Assam Chief Minister After BJP Legislature Meet

Himanta Biswa Sarma as the leader of its legislative party in Assam, clearing the way for him to continue as the Chief Minister. The decision was taken in the BJP legislature meeting attended by senior leaders including J. P. Nadda and Nayab Singh Saini. With unanimous support from the MLAs, Sarma’s leadership was confirmed after formal approval inside the meeting. Following this, the party will meet the Governor to stake claim to form the government. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 12 May at 11 AM, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the event. The decision is seen as a strong endorsement of Sarma’s leadership and marks another major political victory for BJP in Assam, while further consolidating its position in the state’s politics.
