Tamil Nadu is witnessing a major political development as actor-turned-politician Vijay is set to become Chief Minister today. The swearing-in ceremony of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government will take place at 10 AM at Chennai’s Nehru Indoor Stadium. Vijay has submitted a letter of support claiming backing of 120 MLAs, comfortably crossing the majority mark in the 234-member Assembly. Following this, the Governor invited TVK to form the government and asked Vijay to prove majority support in the Assembly by May 13, 2026. Reports suggest TVK may include six ministers from its party and three from the Congress quota, though final confirmation is awaited. Leaders likely to be part of the new cabinet include Senkotian, CTR Nirmal Kumar, Anand Venkatraman, Arun Raj, Aadhav Arjuna, Raj Mohan, and Mustafa. However, portfolio allocation is still unclear. Heavy security has been deployed at the venue as large crowds gather to witness this historic political moment, marking a major shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
