POLITICAL ALERT: TMC Rift Deepens as Kakoli Ghosh Files Complaint Against Kalyan Banerjee

Fresh internal tensions have surfaced within the Trinamool Congress after party MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar formally raised allegations of misconduct against senior TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee. The matter has now escalated beyond internal party discussions, with Kakoli reportedly approaching Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking permission to file an official complaint against the senior parliamentarian. The political controversy comes at a sensitive time for the Trinamool Congress, which is already facing pressure following recent electoral setbacks and increasing signs of internal dissatisfaction within the party ranks. According to reports, Kakoli Ghosh had earlier resigned from key organisational responsibilities, including district-level positions, before expressing her concerns regarding remarks allegedly made by Kalyan Banerjee. In her communication, Kakoli reportedly objected to statements and behavior she considered disrespectful toward women. The dispute intensified after Kalyan Banerjee publicly responded to the allegations during a press conference, where he sharply criticized Kakoli and questioned her political stance after the party’s recent struggles. The public exchange has exposed growing divisions inside the TMC leadership, with political observers viewing the confrontation as a sign of deeper unrest within the organisation. The development has also sparked debate over internal discipline and leadership management inside the party. Sources suggest the issue may further escalate in Parliament if formal proceedings are initiated through the Speaker’s office. The controversy has generated major political attention in West Bengal, where opposition parties are also closely watching the developments. As tensions continue to rise, questions are being raised over whether the party leadership under Mamata Banerjee will intervene directly to contain the widening internal conflict before it impacts the party’s organisational structure and public image further.
