NEWS UPDATE: Lok Sabha Disrupted Again as Opposition Protest Forces Adjournment Till Noon

The Lok Sabha witnessed continued disruption on Wednesday as opposition members staged protests, leading to the adjournment of House proceedings till 12:00 noon. The uproar erupted during Question Hour, with opposition MPs raising slogans and demanding an opportunity for their leader to speak in the House. Despite repeated appeals from the Chair, members continued to disrupt proceedings. The Speaker firmly reminded the House that Question Hour is reserved exclusively for listed questions and answers, and no member is permitted to raise other issues during this period. Emphasizing parliamentary decorum, the Chair assured members that sufficient time would be allocated during Zero Hour, budget discussions, and other scheduled debates for them to express their views, including on the Budget and other national matters. The Speaker urged members to follow rules and procedures, stressing that Parliament is a platform for dialogue, debate, agreement, and disagreement—but not for sloganeering or planned deadlock. However, opposition MPs, particularly from the Congress party, maintained that the House would not function unless their demand was met. As protests intensified, the Speaker adjourned the Lok Sabha till noon. The disruption, which began during the discussion on the Motion of Thanks, continues to stall legislative business, raising concerns over repeated interruptions during the ongoing parliamentary session.
