NDRF Teams Carry Out Rescue Operations As Yamuna Floods Delhi’s Monastery Market

The rising Yamuna waters have now inundated the famous Monastery Market, also known as the Tibetan Refugee Market, in Delhi. The area, usually bustling with shops and customers, is now submerged, with floodwaters breaching the danger mark.Visuals from the ground show heavy flooding across the market, with shopkeepers struggling to protect their goods. Many have already shifted their stock themselves, as official help arrived late. One shopkeeper, who owns a garments store, said he managed to salvage some items on his own, but incurred heavy losses as water damaged much of his merchandise.Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), supported by Delhi Police volunteers, has deployed boats and safety gear to carry out rescue and relief operations. Teams can be seen moving into flooded lanes, making announcements, and checking for stranded individuals or those in need of emergency supplies. Floodlights and public address systems are being used to ensure effective communication during operations.Officials confirmed that their priority is to evacuate anyone trapped inside shops or residences and to assess the level of damage. With water levels still rising, authorities have urged people without urgent work in the area to stay away and allow NDRF teams to operate smoothly.
