In a major political development ahead of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) elections, Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have decided not to form an alliance. Leaders from both parties have issued clear instructions to their candidates to file nominations separately. From today, Shiv Sena and BJP candidates will begin submitting their nomination papers independently, confirming that the two parties will contest the civic polls on their own. Speculation had been rife that the BJP might go solo, and the decision has now been officially confirmed. The NMMC elections are considered politically significant, much like the BMC polls, and the BJP is aiming to repeat its earlier strong performance by contesting independently. The move is expected to reshape the political dynamics in Navi Mumbai.
