The accidental blast took place at the Naugam Police Station in Jammu & Kashmir on Friday night at around 11:22 pm. The explosion occurred when the forensic team, senior officials, and Jammu & Kashmir Police were testing a 358-kg sample of explosive material that had been seized from the residence of Dr. Muzzammil in Faridabad.According to reports, a total of nine people lost their lives, and around 29 others were seriously injured in the Naugam police station blast. The incident has raised several serious questions about whether ammonium nitrate can explode on its own or if any pre-mixed explosive or detonator was involved, as a detonator is typically required to trigger such a blast. The explosion was so powerful that it shook nearby residential areas and destroyed almost the entire police station building. This is not the first such incident at Naugam Police Station; about eight years ago, a grenade stored in the evidence store had accidentally exploded.
